Handmade laminate wooden flat work for a unique look
The humble single coil. Coil of wire directly surrounding Alnico poles, resulting in a relatively low inductance, creating a bright, sweet articulate voice.
My Strat pickups are scatter-wound onto hand finished Alnico magnets.
These are mounted on laser cut fibreboard flatwork before being potted in wax. I use period correct cloth covered wire.
Available as Standard with Flat poles, Vintage or Modern staggered poles.
With Black, White or Cream covers.

True Vintage Alnico V
My take on True vintage pickups, based on a Guitar Legend's well known guitar.
Made with vintage-staggered Alnico 5 magnets, surrounded by Formvar coated AWG42 coil wire, the key to this set is roughly equal, low-vintage output on all three pickups.
Volume balance is therefore achieved by having a lower neck pickup, relative to a modern set. This results in a characteristic sweetness in the Neck pickup.
Highly articulate, highly dynamic, true vintage sweetness.

Vintage Alnico II
My take of that early 50's sound.
Alnico 2 is strong enough to add some push to the front end of your amp, but retains some of that lower end of the EQ, for a warmer, smoother voice. It sound like a Strat should in all the right ways, but trims some of those top end tones. Perfect for a bright guitar where some of the treble/upper-mids can be a bit brittle.
Great for warm clean tones, but able to push into warm sweet overdrive.

Vintage Alnico IV
Unusual in single coils, Alnico 4 is said to give a more neutral EQ balance. In reality, these are very close to the iconic Alnico 5 vintage Strat voice, but with a subtle tempering of the upper end of the EQ spectrum. These are perfect for that guitar which sounds good acoustically, and will then sound Great plugged in.

Uncommon in commercial pickups, Alnico 3 is weakest of the Alnico family of magnets. Low inductance in the coil, reduces the top end, resulting in a warm woody tone, with exceptional dynamics.
Great for jazz and clean tones these have a natural singing quality and great sustain.

Alnico 5 produces a clear powerful tone, with defined clarity in the top end and controlled bass. Clear and musical with plenty of grunt when pushed. Great usable clean sounds, but with versatility enough for Blues to rock. Tones we all know and love.

Vintage/Hot - Medium Alnico V
These are designed to make it easier to achieve a certain tone many of us have in our head when we think of Strat tones.
Wound to near p90 output & using thinner wire this set aims to put more body into the mids & to push your amp into thick and creamy distortion. Still the bright articulate tones of a Strat, but with more to offer in the mids and more power to really push your amp.
Vintage/hot to Medium output, still beautiful when played clean, but really meant to sing in overdrive.

Modern Alnico V
Designed with thicker magnets and overwound using thinner gauge wire, these have an aggressive voice with precious little room for subtlety. Loud brash & obnoxious; a vast distance from Vintage strat tones.
Still with some charm when played clean, these will hammer the front end of your amp for crisp bright dirty tones.

These are designed to subtly push the musicality of vintage pickups into more modern territory.
Overwound with vintage correct AWG42 wire these are still clear and articulate, but with added oomph to push your amp quicker than true vintage pickups.
With slightly less highs and a touch more mids, these are great for opening up thin or overly bright sounding guitars or just for tickling a shy amp into life, while retaining that iconic Strat voice.

Modern Alnico V (Ceramic, II, III or IV)
Single Coil sized Humbucker resulting in a thicker, more powerful tone.
The addition of steel to the pickup changes the voice. Adding more inductance to the coils, this causes the bass response to heighten significantly - sounding more alike a proper humbucker than a Strat & highly recommended if you need to thicken up the bridge.
Medium output.
Bobbins available in Black & White, Rails available in Black, Chrome or Gold.
